Mental Health America of Greater Houston is seeking a Front Desk Greeter (Part-time Volunteer) to be the welcoming face of the organization.
Responsibilities include:
• Greeting and directing guests to the appropriate staff member
• Respond to inquiries from visitors
• Good interpersonal skills and an ability to work with all types of people and groups
• Set up conference room(s) for meeting(s)
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Light administrative work (copies, data entry, direct mailings, etc.)
• Direct incoming calls using multi-line phone system
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Knowledge of/or willingness to learn phone system and other office equipment
• Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel

Communications Program Volunteer or Intern

Mental Health America of Greater Houston is seeking a Communications Program Volunteer or Intern (Part-time) to support our Communications Division.
Responsibilities include:
• writing articles, stories and press releases for digital and/or printed newsletters and marketing materials
• conducting phone and/or in-person interviews
• researching mental health information
• taking pictures for stories
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Must be detail oriented
• Ability to write and edit for clarity, grammar and spelling
• Strong writing skills using AP writing style
• Have the ability to photograph and/or take digital video of the person being interviewed.
• Knowledge of issues in mental health and mental illness preferred, but not required.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel

• Distribute orders
• Distribute literature at health fairs, etc.
• Manage publications database
• Update in-house publications
• Light administrative support
• Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel

Suicide Prevention Awareness Program Volunteer or Intern

• Work with the MHA Suicide Prevention Awareness Group and assist with their events
• Assemble materials public awareness
• Assist in projects aimed at spreading awareness and suicide prevention in Houston
