Center for School Behavioral Health-Collaborative Meeting (January 2017)
In the Collaborative Meeting of the Center for School Behavioral Health at Mental Health America of Greater Houston, Amanda Siroosian with ChildBuilders’ launched the meeting with the presentation, Primary Prevention: Breaking the Cycle of Abuse--a program that enhances student social-emotional learning and competencies to promote healthy relationship skills, prevent abuse and bullying, and enable the next generation to be nurturing parents.
The meeting also hosted a discussion with panel moderator Jennifer Herrera, Program Officer for Episcopal Health Foundation, Donna Bahorich, Chair of the Texas Board of Education, and Juliet Stipeche, Director of Education for Mayor Turner at the City of Houston offered insight into what the new year will bring for education and student mental health on both a local and statewide level.
Annalee Gulley, Director of Public Policy and Government Affairs at Mental Health America of Greater Houston wrapped up the meeting by shared information about the formation of the Center's Education Advocacy Group that will explore public policy issues in the Greater Houston area.
