World Café Shares Realities of Mothers Seeking Help for Postpartum Depression
On March 23, behavioral health professionals and members of the Perinatal Mental Health Learning Community at MHA of Greater Houston attended the Perinatal Mental Health World Café at The Motherhood Center. The World Café engaged professionals in meaningful conversation about postpartum depression and perinatal mood disorders, and highlighted factors that impact a mother’s health as they attempt to navigate various platforms of recovery. Finding appropriate medical care/treatment, the role of counseling/psychotherapy in recovery, access to support/resources and impact on family were all topics shared from first-hand maternal perspectives.
