In an appreciation breakfast hosted (12/13/13) by the members and staff of Saint Joseph House, Susan Fordice, (pictured right) president and CEO of Mental Health America of Greater Houston and Dr. Steve Schnee, (pictured left) executive director of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County were applauded for lending their ideas and collaborative expertise to help expand psychosocial services in Harris County.

Recent funding granted through the 1115 Medicaid Transformation Waiver will affordSaint Joseph House an opportunity to help more Harris County residents with serious, persistent mental illness restore their self-esteem and self-confidence, re-enter the job market and live independently.

In an address given by Grant Kennedy, (pictured center) Director of Saint Joseph House, the current clubhouse has already had over a thousand members. He believes that in the long-term this expansion and the addition of more clubhouses has the potential to help hundreds, even thousands of people with mental illnesses for many years to come.

St. Joseph House is a psychosocial rehabilitation center, certified by the International Center for Clubhouse Development. It is the first member in Texas to be awarded this distinction.
