New Officers, Board Directors Introduced at MHA Greater Houston 2016 Annual Meeting
On June 2nd, Mental Health America of Greater Houston hosted its Annual Meeting and Reception at the Lora Jean Kilroy Visitor and Education Center located on the historic River Oaks estate, Bayou Bend—the former home of our founder, Miss Ima Hogg.
After a brief reception, featured speaker and psychologist, Dr. Andrew Keller, president and CEO of the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute kicked off the meeting introducing the organization's new, "Okay to Say," statewide mental health awareness campaign featuring Mark Cuban and Emmitt Smith. He also touched on the state's behavioral health landscape and some of the opportunities our communities have to improve behavioral health care in Texas. Learn more at texasstateofmind.org/.
The Annual Meeting also gave us an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of retiring board chair, Michael Jhin and retiring board directors, Rev. Dr. Linda Christians, Dr. Theresa Fassihi, Anne Frischkorn, George Parnham and Lisa Yoho.
New board of directors members Debra G. Cohen and Dr. Andrea Gail Stolar were welcomed to the organization and the 2016 slate of officers was announced. The officers are as follows: Chair, Gwen Emmett, Immediate Past Chair, Michael Jhin, Vice Chair, The Honorable Brock Thomas, and Secretary/Treasurer, Louise Duble, CPA.
We thank our members, speaker and guests for attending this year's Annual Meeting.
