MHA Houston Discontinues Pro Bono Counseling Program
Access to mental health care has been a long-standing priority at Mental Health America of Greater Houston. In analyzing how we can maximize our impact towards this and other important goals, we have decided to discontinue the MHA Pro Bono Counseling Program.
This change will allow us to concentrate our efforts on what we do best – education and advocacy. By focusing on our unique agency strengths, we can best serve the community and contribute to long-term solutions for people with mental health needs.
Our current initiatives focus on education, advocacy and awareness in the areas of integrated health care, schools and youth, veterans and families, maternal/perinatal mental health, aging, and suicide prevention.
We encourage anyone seeking a referral for mental health services to contact our community partner, the United Way of Greater Houston Helpline by dialing 2-1-1.
We will continue to offer The Guide: A listing of low-cost and/or affordable Mental Health Resources in Houston/Harris County. The Guide is free to the public. Limited printed copies are available for pickup only to individuals and organizations who need 50+ copies. For more order information or to download a copy visit http://www.mhahouston.org/find-help/.
