VBHI Presents at 5th Annual Justice Involved Veteran's Conference
Tony Solomon, Director of the Houston/Harris County Veterans Behavioral Health Initiative at Mental Health America at Greater Houston presented at the 5th Annual Justice Involved Conference in San Antonio, Texas held May 12th-14th along with veteran peer mentors, Duane Perez and Lex Loya.
Solomon and the peer mentors shared strategies, developments and success stories of the initiative.
The 5th Annual Justice Involved Veterans Conference focuses on the five intervention points along the continuum as described in the sequential intercept model intended to provide treatment and minimize involvement with the criminal justice system for veterans. This conference was designed to provide practical strategies from local, state and national experts on addressing the needs of justice-involved veterans. Policy makers, law enforcement, veteran mentors and more gathered to discuss and obtain valuable information on topics such as cutting edge treatment services, sobering centers, and veterans services and criminal justice policy.
The Houston/Harris County Veterans Behavioral Health Initiative is an outreach network for veterans providing resources and support to help eliminate the stigma of mental illness and to encourage behavioral health care for those in the veteran community.
