(Houston/Harris County Jail Inreach Program), RSVP of the Texas Gulf Coast (Senior Service Corps Volunteers Promotes Mental Wellness of Youth, Seniors, Families and Program Participants), Judge Jan Krocker (Harris County Felony Mental Health Court), Nick Finnegan Counseling Center (Depression Awareness and Affordable Counseling Services), Network of Behavioral Health Providers-Pathways Project (Promoting Mental Health Careers Among College/University Students), Friends of Drew Webb-7s for 7 Lacrosse Tournament (Depression Awareness for Yount Athletes), El Centro de Corazon and MHMRA of Harris County (Integrated Health Care Partnership at the MHMRA Southeast Clinic), MHMRA of Harris County, Crisis Intervention of Houston, The Council on Alcohol and Drugs Houston and 2-1-1 Texas/United Way HELPLINE (Information, Referral and Crisis Lines), Esther Steinberg (Mental Health Awareness Seniors and Aging) and Tony Solomon, Marty Gonzalez and Bryan Escobedo (Veterans Mental Health Awareness ).
The individuals and organizations that are being honored are often under-recognized for significant contributions that they are making in the lives of people with mental illnesses; for initiating public awareness or educational efforts that encourage mental health and wellness, and eliminate stigma associated with mental illness; and/or for the positive impact they are making to advance mental health in a non-traditional setting , non-mental health-related field or in the field of mental health.
Each honoree will be featured in a book on mental health in Houston; a month-long gallery display November 2012 and a reception at the Houston Public Library - 500 McKinney Street on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 6 pm – 8 pm. Please join us for this free public event.
