MVPN Basic training is an entry level volunteer training required to volunteer with a MVPN chapter. This training is also beneficial for anyone who may supervise or otherwise interact with service members, veterans and their families (SMVF). It broadly covers topics which are important to being a peer volunteer such as active listening, stress, addictive behaviors and self-care. At the end of the training session, you have an opportunity to sign up to be an active volunteer with the MVPN Galveston Chapter. Just because you attend the training does not mean you are required to volunteer. Regardless, you will be better equipped to work with SMVF and you will be better equipped to inform them about our organization.

Limit 15 attendees.

Topics Include

  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Assessment Skills
  • Depression and Suicide
  • Stress
  • Addictive Behaviors
  • Modes of peer support
