After graduating from Emory University in Atlanta, Dr. Ferrell attended medical school at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a four year Psychiatry residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where she served as the administrative co-chief resident as well as the chief resident of the Baylor Psychiatry Clinic.
Dr. Ferrell is board certified for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, North American Society for Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynecology, Texas Medical Association, Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, Fort Bend and Harris County Medical Societies, Houston Psychiatric Society, Houston Group Psychotherapy Society and Association of Women Psychiatrists.
In addition to her private practice, she maintained her affiliation with Baylor College of Medicine as Clinical Assistant Professor.
Her interests include psychodynamic psychotherapy, group therapy, evidence based medication management, anxiety, depression, palliative care and trauma related illnesses. She is also trained in reproductive mental health, which is a specialty that focuses on psychiatric conditions that develop in relation to specific points in a woman's reproductive life cycle, such as menstruation, pregnancy, infertility and menopause.
