Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders Training

Learn symptomology of perinatal mental illnesses,
how to screen for postpartum depression, treatment modalities,
and the consequences of untreated perinatal mental illness.


The intended training audience

is designed for mental health professionals (psychiatrists, residents in psychiatry,

psychologists, LPCs/LPC-Is, LMFTs/LMFT-As, & LCSWs/LMSWs) and other advanced medical professionals.

 

The 'Train-the-Trainer' module will help you to:

 

Differentiate between "baby blues" and postpartum depession

Identify postpartum anxiety disorders and postpartum psychosis

Review screening and treatment options available for postpartum depression

Determine indications for emergency psychiatric hospitalization

Review negative impact of untreated postpartum depression

 

In exchange for the training, participants will be asked to

present two (2) perinatal mental health trainings in the

Greater Houston area during 2014-2015.

 

Free event and Free CEUs.

CEUs are available for LMSW/LCSWs, LPCs, and LMFTs. 

Registration will begin at 4:30pm. 

Speaker Nicole Garber, MD
Dr. Garber graduated medical school from Saint Louis University and completed her general psychiatry residency at Emory University.  She also completed a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Garber has completed additional training in dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy and mentalization based ...

Dr. Garber graduated medical school from Saint Louis University and completed her general psychiatry residency at Emory University.  She also completed a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Garber has completed additional training in dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy and mentalization based therapy.  She currently works at the University of Houston as an adolescent psychiatrist and her clinical areas of interest are eating disorders and borderline personality disorder.
