Impact of mental health during pregnancy on infants examined

The impact of women's mental health during pregnancy is the focus of a major collaborative study underway in Perth.

Researchers will examine whether maternal mental health has a detrimental impact on infant development and investigate factors that reduce the risk of harm.

Chief Investigator Professor Megan Galbally, who is Foundation Chair in Perinatal Psychiatryjointly funded by Murdoch University and the University of Notre Dame, said there was an urgent need to develop effective interventions to improve mental health outcomes for women and childre.
