As an additional strategy to support the professional growth of educators and school personnel, the Center organizes an annual regional conference around a behavioral health topic. The conference is a highly specialized regional event where local innovative ideas and national model programs and research are presented. The conference offers an opportunity to meaningfully engage in dialogue with experts and colleagues, as well as learn best-practices for addressing behavioral health needs in schools.
The sold out first conference, Educator Strategies for Addressing Student Trauma, took place on October 21st, 2016 and welcomed 300+ attendees from local organizations and 33 area school districts. Highlights included:
- Incredible keynote addresses' by Marleen Wong, USC School of Social Work and Steve Graner, ChildTrauma Academy.
